What your profile is and why it matters

Your profile is a living resume for your trade. It is the single place that holds who you are, the trade you work in, your credentials, your experience, and the skills you have shown through study and work.

A lot of it is built for you. We seed it from the answers you give when you first sign up, then keep it growing as you use the app, so you are not stuck filling in a long form before it is useful.

It matters because a complete profile is what powers a polished, downloadable resume and lets the right employers find you when you choose to be seen.

  • Trade identity: your primary trade, pathway (apprentice, journeyperson, student, or international worker), and credential status.
  • Credentials: Red Seal certificate, licenses, safety tickets, and training records.
  • Experience and portfolio: work history and proof of work like photos and project files.
  • Skills and learning evidence: strong areas and readiness signals drawn from your practice.

You do not have to finish everything in one sitting. The profile page shows a completion percentage so you can see what is started and what is still empty.

How your profile gets built

Your profile fills in two ways: automatically from what you do, and manually when you want to add or change something yourself.

Built for you: your onboarding answers set up your trade, location, and pathway. As you take quizzes and practice exams, your strong areas, focus areas, and readiness score appear under Skills and Learning evidence without any extra work.

Added by you: you can edit your intro, write a short summary, set your trade and pathway, and upload evidence at any time. If you upload a resume, we can read it and pull out details like your experience, skills, and certifications to save you typing.

  1. Open your profile at /profile.
  2. Use the pencil icon on any section to edit details like your headline, location, trade, or summary.
  3. Use the plus icon or Add evidence to upload a resume, credential, or portfolio item.
  4. Watch the completion bar at the top fill in as each section gets started.

Profile evidence and study materials are kept separate. Credentials and work files live on your profile, not in your study uploads.

Adding credentials and certifications

Credentials are the proof behind your trade: your Red Seal certificate, provincial licenses, Certificate of Qualification records, safety tickets, and manufacturer or course training.

You add these as evidence so they live on your profile and can be shown to employers when you choose.

  1. On your profile, find the Licenses and certifications section.
  2. Select Add credential (the plus icon).
  3. Upload the document, such as your Red Seal certificate or a safety ticket.
  4. Repeat for each credential you want on file.
  • Keep documents clear and readable so they are easy to verify later.
  • Credentials you upload are saved to your profile, separate from your study materials.
  • You can also list certifications by name and set your trade, experience, and location so employers can find you in search.

Controlling who can see your profile

You decide who can see your profile and how much of it is shared. Nothing is shown to employers until you turn visibility on.

When you are visible to employers, they see an anonymized version. Your trade, experience, city, province, readiness score, skills, and certifications can show. Your name, email, phone number, and current employer stay hidden until you choose to connect or apply.

  1. Open the Visibility and sharing section on your profile.
  2. Choose a level: Private (only you), Employers only (verified employers can discover your anonymized profile), or Public (widest reach including shared links).
  3. Use the toggles to control whether you appear in employer search, allow employer contact, and share your learning evidence.
  4. Select Save visibility to apply your choices.

Editing your profile and publishing it are separate. You can build and polish everything while it stays private, then change visibility when you are ready.

Downloading your resume

Because your profile is already a living resume, you can turn it into a clean, polished resume to download and share when you apply for work.

It pulls together your trade, experience, credentials, and skills so you do not have to format a resume from scratch. The more complete your profile, the stronger the resume.

  • Fill in your trade, experience, location, and credentials first for the best result.
  • Upload an existing resume so its details can be read in and added to your profile.
  • You can also export your learning data, including study activity and progress, from your learning profile.

Update your profile as you earn new tickets or gain experience, then download a fresh resume so it always reflects where you are now.

Coming soon: an automatic skills profile that proves what you know
Coming soon

Right now your profile shows strong areas and readiness drawn from your practice. We are building this out into a full skills profile that maps the real skills behind your trade and shows how strong you are in each one.

The difference is proof. Instead of just listing skills on a resume the way anyone can, your scores would come from how you actually perform on quizzes and practice exams. That is much harder to fake, and it helps you stand out from people who only claim a skill.

  • Skills grouped the way your trade really works, such as code knowledge, hands-on skills, and safety.
  • A strength level on each skill that updates on its own as you study and practice.
  • A simple chart so you and an employer can see your strengths at a glance.
  • When you apply for a job, a clear look at where you already meet what is needed and where you have a gap to close.

You will not have to fill any of this in. The more you study and practice, the more complete and convincing your skills profile becomes.

Coming soon: getting found by employers, on your terms
Coming soon

We are building a way for employers to find skilled workers and apprentices through the platform, with your privacy protected from the start. Your profile would stay hidden until you choose to be seen, and even then employers would see an anonymized version first.

Employers could see things like your trade, your area, your readiness, and your strong skills, but not your name, email, phone number, or current employer. If a company is interested, they reach out through the platform. Your contact details are only shared if you decide to respond.

  • Off by default, so nothing is shared until you turn it on.
  • An anonymized profile, so your identity stays private while your skills do the talking.
  • A preview so you can see exactly what an employer would see before you go live.
  • Controls to pause being seen during busy study periods, and to limit how often companies can message you.

This is built so you can keep focusing on your studies and only open the door to employers when you are ready.
